Moving Gmail to your own domain
Done with @gmail.com and ready for a professional address on your own domain? Here is how to move your Gmail mail without losing anything.
First create an app password
Gmail only allows external IMAP access with an app password. Turn on two-step verification in your Google account, go to App passwords and generate one for "Mail". You use that password when connecting — not your regular Google password.
Filling in source and target
The source is imap.gmail.com (port 993, SSL) with your Gmail address and the app password. The target is the IMAP server of your new provider on your own domain.

Labels, folders and the archive
Gmail labels are copied over as folders, including your full archive. Your old Gmail keeps working in the meantime, so you can switch over calmly and inform your senders.
