Is email migration safe? How to protect your passwords and data

You hand over mail passwords to migrate — is that safe? What to watch for and how emailmover protects your data.

The risk is in passwords and storage

A migration tool needs access to your mailbox, so you provide login details. The risk is in how those are stored and whether the content of your mail is saved anywhere. So use app passwords where possible, which you can revoke afterwards.

Encrypted and then wiped

With emailmover your passwords are stored encrypted until your migration finishes and wiped immediately after. They are never stored in the clear and never end up in log files. The content of your email is never stored — messages flow straight from source to target.

EU hosting and GDPR

All processing runs on EU infrastructure, with a data processing agreement on request. For businesses that matters: you remain the controller and the migration service is the processor. That keeps you in control of where your data sits.
